Welcome the Weekend in Bath!
I don’t think there is a single anglophile out there that doesn’t count a visit to Bath on their bucket list. Natural thermal spas, historic Georgian townhouses and ancient Roman ruins dating back to the 60’s AD are the perfect backdrop for a weekend getaway! Make sure you scroll to the end to find out my favorite haunts!
1. The Kennard is a beautiful B&B on the other side of Pulteney Bridge. This beautifully refurbished Georgian has cozy, luxury themed rooms, reading nooks on each landing and breakfast in one of the most beautiful jewel boxes of a dining room! 2. The Tasting Room is the perfect little secret getaway for you and your honey. Located over a wine shop, their selection of vino is on point and the seasonal dishes are perfect for either grazing at the bar or a full romantic dinner. 3. Looking to hone up on your history of astronomy? Check out the home of William Herschel and see his laboratory where he perfected long range telescopes and take a turn in the Georgian garden where he discovered the planet Uranus. 4. Find out what fashion was like in 17th century Bath by visiting the Fashion Museum of Bath. You can get hands on exposure to their massive collection by making a simple call beforehand or simply take the grand tour of their rotating collection which is chock full of incredible anecdotes, not to mention the mourning dress of Queen Victoria. 5. Shop for luxury baubles at Alexandra May. Her swoon worthy collection includes offerings from Anton Heunis, Askew London, Konplott and many others! 6. Finally, get a breathtaking view of Bath where few tourists are to be seen. Hare and Hounds is the perfect place for a Sunday respite of fine food, quality Bath ales and a panoramic view to knock your socks off! You’d have to be a mountain goat to do the mile plus walk up the steep hill so grab a round trip bus ticket and enjoy the ride!
