hot damn!…

…kudos to mary louise parker! how old is this woman?!! there were numerous actresses aging themselves in inappropriate disasters yet she manages to look youthful and fresh in this beautiful little zac posen dress. after all, it’s the emmys and not the oscars so i think a little levity in the formality of the occasion is allowed. come on, it’s television and ‘weeds’ (and everything else on paid cable) is aimed at a youthful audience, so it was refreshing to see someone liven it up a little with a modern less predictable look. balance this with the fact that it’s almost ninety degrees in downtown l.a. and the overall effect makes perfect sense. the purple is rich and flattering and the violet sash at the waist isn’t overwhelming in size but balances the proportions just right. thank god, she doesn’t have it attached to her shoulder like a second head! with all of the ridiculous layers and overworked dresses seen on some of the actresses, i think the chic simplicity of this hits the right note. shame on the rest of you frumpy twenty somethings for letting mary turn you out like that!
